I am in the process of building a covered porch.The flooring and ceiling will be tongue and groove fir.I was told a good preservative is two parts linseed oil to one part turpentine.I would like to here your opion on this formula. Thank you, Louis Eichner

The linseed oil will offer some protection, but not much, if the wood will be subjected to sun and moisture.
