Is there anywhere on the internet I can go and get exploded views of various engines and riding mowers. The only place I've found is Sears (they really have an outstanding site).

Sears also lists some competitive brand breakdowns on their website. These companies are likely suppliers to them for other products, so there is a reciprocity agreement there.
For instance, my parents LSR7233EQ0 Whirlpool shows up on the Sears site....owing to the fact that many washers and dryers that Sears has ARE Whirlpool :).
For instance you might find a Murray or AYP model there as they are Sears suppliers for mowers and equipment.
Other than that, I would simply contact the manufacturer of the engine/equipment and simply ask. Most will send you the information at no charge.
