Any Tips / Tricks for building a high deck. From ground to floor will be about 15ft. Deck will be 12x24. My plan was to build a temporary 2x4 beam, hang the joist header and build the frame. After the frame is up I would measure where the posts go, pour piers and install the posts. The posts will only go to the base of the deck. The deck will overhang the main posts so that I can attach the railing posts in the front. The posts are 6x6 cedar with 2x8 CCA/ACQ joists spaced 16" apart. I thought about using scaffolding to help :)

If it were me.. i would do my layout strings on the ground and get my piers poured and set. Then buy longer ie 16' or so 6x6s and plumb them and temp brace. and tack 2x4 or x6s onto the 6x6 to work off of as far as setting up rim joists or ledgers. THen you can simply sawzall the posts later when everythigns ready to go and work off them in the meantime.Hope this helps--Josh
