I have a fireplace from the 1920's that have decorative ceramic tile/brick/border around the hearth. Unfortunately, several of them have chipped over the years. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions of what can be used to fill in the chips. The pieces has a decorative pattern, so I need to be able to shape the fill material before it cures.
The front side of the ceramic pieces has a black/gold, metal looking finish, so I will also need to apply some color/paint after the repair job. Any feedback on what to use for this would also be highly appreciated. I am concerned about the heat when the fireplace is in use.
Last, one of the pieces has fallen off. What kind of cement should I use to re-attach it?
Thanks in advance for your replies :)
