Blinds, Shades and Shutters - Reducing the "bump" in adjustable curtain rods?

I recently purchased adjustable curtain rods and hung curtains with rings and clips. I need to tug harder than I'd like to get the ring to jump over the "bump" created where the rod joins. Does any one know of a gasket that can be purchased to reduce the angle of this joint? Or does anyone have another suggestion? I'm concerned about the stress I put on the fabric tugging to get the ring over this joint. Thanks!
