Hi everybody!
I just moved into a new house, and am trying to have my phone line hooked up. They came out to the house yesterday and ran the outside line to the box, but said it is my responsibility to connect the inside line to the outside line inside the box.
Where is this box? Where do I get the inside line from and how do I get it to the box? How do I connect them once they are there? Is there anything else I should know?
Is this something that is safe for someone as clueless as myself to do, or am I better off getting an electrician (gulp!)?

The local phone company has installed what is called a network interface jack. If this is a brand new house look for it somewhere near the eletric meer coming in the house. It's usually a gray box about 8 to 10 inches square with a bolt in the middle o it. There should be markings on it as to which is the user side. If your house is new, chances are the electrician prewired the house for the phines.
