I need to extend a brick chimney by about 5 feet. Do I need to use special mortor or will regular cement be ok?
What if I can not find a round chimney pipe for the inside, are there alternatives?
Back in the 60's we used regular cement for chimney's.

You need to visit your local masonry supply house... taking with you a sample of your brick for correct color and full unit measurement, mortar... and exact measurements of the terracotta liner. A standard Type "N" or "S" masonry cement will work perfectly just fine for your chimney extension.

Keep in mind most terracotta liners come in 2ft lengths. If you probably have get 3 units to go to 5ft you'll have to cut the 3rd unit.
