What tree's can be planted near the house, where the roots will not damage the foundation?

Most people plant trees around their home without knowledge of how big the tree will be when it is mature. Knowing what size the tree will be at maturity should be one of the key factors in selecting a tree for your landscape. Click the following for helpful info:

Here's a couple of sites that give valuable info about trees, such as whether they have surface roots, are a tree that causes litter, mature height and width, etc.

i have heard that you should not plant weeping willows too close to your house because the roots will go on and on looking for water. maybe you could type-small landscape trees - into a search engine? or try the search feature at the national arbor day site?
