I want to build a grape arbor using the branches from the maple tree I had cut down. How can I treat the ends of the limbs that I put into the ground so they don't rot?

Hi Kate,
You could place the limbs in a 3 lb. coffee can, paint can, or something of that size and fill it with concrete. Then bury the cans. You shouldn't have any side growth from maple trees. If you do, just clip it off with pruners.
