I have used just about everything to clean tile and grout but nothing seems to work. I've heard that there is an acid to do this. Does anyone know about this?

There are commercial tile and grout cleaners available. Acids really are not a good idea unless you have acid resistant tile. Acids can dull the sheen of glazed ceramic tile.
