How do you attach a ledger board to a mobile home? Is a free standing deck better for mobile homes? If so do I have to cement the support posts, or can I set them on paving blocks and backfill the holes? I readf that I could put support posts on pavers and just backfill. Deck will be 8x16, 2x5's with roof. Soil is well drained, sand, doesnt freeze below 6-8".

If you are looking to build a free standing deck with minimal digging you might have a look at a local Lowes. THey have a "dek block " system. I would not reccomend it for use in northern climates like PA but they could be great and quick in warm climates... however how sandy is sand? Ive seen columns built oceanside that they dug down 36' and poured concrete piers for beach house construction. Dont want it to sink if its super sandy. Hope this helps--Josh
