The second part of this question is do I have to remove the mud floor or can I chisel the ceramic tiles off it and then reuse the same mud floor. Thanks again.

Hi
There's only one way to find out...get a hammer and chisel and see how easily they come off. IF they come off fairly clean, without damaging the mud floor...you can put new tile on top...if it's damaged only a little, then you can repair it's surface by skimming it with thin set the day before you retile it. If it all comes out and you are down to the wood subfloor, you can replace it with concrete board before you re-tile.
