I have to change the ceramic tile floor in my bathroom. Can anyone please give me any advice as how to go about getting these small tiles off a one half inch mud floor. I believe the mud floor must be on top of a plywood or wood subfloor because the bathroom is on the second floor of the house. Thanks

You can use a sledge hammer and chisel. You can also rent a pneumatic chisel. Wear goggles!

best to take the whole mud floor out and redo, little more labor, about 20 bucks more for new mud - but a whole lot better

I think the mud must be thicker than a half-inch. If it's an older house, the mud could be a couple inches thick, in which case I would not remove it. I would either install the new tiles over the old, or remove the tiles only with a chipping hammer and install the new tiles over the mud with thin set.
