Which fasteners work best for composite decking? I'm about to install Trex on my deck.

I'd like to use nails since I have a paslode nailer, but I don't know whether I should go to the expense of stainless steel or use hot dipped galvanized.

Also, what size nail should I use for 5/4 decking?

Thanks.

typically you want at least 1-1.5" penetration more is just likely to bend nails .. so 10D or 12d and youd be fine around 2 inches. Hope this helps--Josh

oh since you are using trex there shouldnt be any warping cupping etc.. but if anyone out there is using pressure treated go with 16Ds so you can pull the boards straight when you lay them out. HOpe this helps--Josh
