Is the paper illusion really that easy to do? And does its beauty last long or does it peel off after years of use? You see, wallpaper looks very beautiful during the 1st or 2nd year. After that, you can already (slightly) notice the seam. Eventhough I repaste it, I can still notice some of the seam or edges. Unlike during its early years, you can hardly see the seam or edges. I though maybe this paper illusion will be better since there is no need for matching patterns. And maybe the edges could not be seen after years of use. I just want to make sure before I buy it. Thanks for your help.

I wouldn't say its easy, but in order for seams to be beautiful and as non-noticeable as possible, there are techniques involved.

No matter what, use additional wallpaper adhesive. Use Professional Brand 880, thinned out 50/50 with water. I don't care what the roll says, use this adhesive instead of water or activator. Mix some up and apply it with a paint roller, let the wallpaper book for 5-10 minutes and hang as normal. Once you have hung two strips, you will have a good butt seam between the two papers. Sometimes this takes patience for you to line them up. Make sure there is no over or under lap of the junction of the two papers.

Wait 5-10 minutes (perhaps hanging strip #3 in the process) and lightly roll the seam with a........seam roller. This will lock down the seam. Mind that you don't press too hard, squeezing all the paste out of the seam.

You may also use an old paperhanger's trick to lock down the seams. The day before you hang, figure out where all the seams will fall in your room. Take some blank cash register tape (buy at office supply store) and paste it on the seam areas. I won't bore you with the physics involved, but this technique will ensure your seams stay put no matter what.

Once you do either or both methods to your seam, you can color in any errors that you or the paper make. Sometimes, no matter how good you are doing the paper will show seams due to cutting errors. Solve this problem with the application of chalk or permanent water colors. This technique is discussed on my
seam repair page. (http://www.wallpaperinstaller.com/seam_repair.html) :D

Best of luck with your paperhanging!
