Hey guys!
I have a couple of quick questions I hope ya'll can help me with.
I just finished grouting the most awesome backsplash ever (my first ever!) and now I am very paranoid about some potential issues. I grouted all the way from the countertop to the cabinets without leaving any space for caulk. I am concerned that this will crack. (1/8+ gaps with sanded grout) Should I be proactive and scrape the grout out now ~before I seal it~or wait and see what happens. What is the worst that will happen - the grout will crack when things expand and contract? Also - I had trouble getting the proper consistency of grout (although I did finally) I forgot to let it slake. What could this do? Is that why I had trouble getting the right consistency in the first place?
Any advice would be welcome!
Thanks,
Grace
Oh and here is a funny - never do this! I used a paper bucket to mix the grout in and had to go back and dig little bits of paper out of the grout lines aaarrgh!

Hi
Paper Bucket?...hmmm..a new use after the 16 pc KFC?;)...sounds like you had some fun...and since it's all done and looks great...I wouldn't worry about the mixing part...and as long as you have a nice clean line where you need the caulking, then I would go over it. The caulk will still hide the crack and expand with it.:)

thanks for the advice -
so you think I should just caulk over the grout line at the junction between tile and countertop? and cabinet and tile? What kind of caulk is good - a clear silicone?
Thanks

It will show everything underneath. Try to find a silicone close to the colour of the grout, if not, then white or something neutral.
