i have been reading the message board with some interest. I have a deck in the front of the house (shade almost all the day) and a deck we will be building in the back of the house (sun from sunrise to sunset). What product can i use for both, namely a good waterproofer. We live northern wisconsin and have grand winters and soggy springs. The back deck will be decked in cedar and the front deck is done in treated pine. I would like a neutral colored stain for the front to match or compliment the house siding and just a great "sealer" for the back to keep it natural. What is Penolin? Stain? or Sealer? Any ideas would be welcomed! Thanx

Most of my experience is with Penofin, Superdeck and CWF and it seems that Superdeck works the best and this was in the Colorado climate. These are all semi-transparent stain/sealers. If you are staining pressure treated wood there are special stains geared specifically for them which I believe all of the brands I mentioned make.
