I need help with my mitsubishi vs4506r. I turn on the set i here a click then turns off imediately. We have had this problem twice before but it was still under warranty so we didn't pay the $150 to fix it each time. I believe it has something to do with IC-401 but I cannot find it on the boards. Does anyone know where this IC is located? Your help would be very much appreciated.

Good Morning:
First, I suggest you obtain a service manual on the set. You can get one of these at:
http://www.treasurechestcorp.com/Mitsubishi.sm.all.html
The VS-004 manual will apply to this unit.
Most common failure on this set is a shorted HOT (Horizontal Output Transistor) and/or failure of capacitor C914 (it opens up).
Parts can be obtained at:
Mitsubishi Electronics America
5665 Plaza Dr.
Cypress, CA 91765
Parts Dept. Mgr.: Vern Kowitz
Phone: 800-344-6352
There are other listings for Mitsubishi and can be found in the Service Directory at
http://www.fargo-ent.com/p_s_dir/m.htm
However, this is a fairly old set and you may have difficulty finding the parts you need. My sources tell me that you may check:
Contact Gibson's Service @ 810-774-9730, ask for David. They have a fair supply of older MGA boards that may be available for a price. Fax line 810-774-5709 / 5485. Located in Greater Detroit area so shipping may also be a factor.
But, remember the odds on this unit. Average life of a projection TV is 9-11 years. After that, they become very expensive and labor intensive. Replacement is a better option at this point.
