Hey gang! :)

As we near the quarterpole of the gardening season, how is everyone doing? Personally, things are going great, with th exception of the greenhouse broccoli. That had some slimy stuff on something on it, so I cut the main heads and just have the side shoots.

Anyone else w/ news?

Eric

Hi Eric,

Not GOOD news. The main garden is STILL too wet to till again. I think I can sneak my tomatoes and peppers in the herb garden and among the flowers tho--after I get rid of this cold I developed from camping. :( My tomato plants have little tomatoes, and I've harvested some peppers (while still in pots).

Your pics on Sierra all look great! Keep 'em coming. :)

Gami,
Sorry to hear of the bad fortune. Tomatoes and peppers in the herb garden would be cool. In fact, I planted one tomato and the sunflowers in one of the herb gardens. Perhaps the new pictures on Sierra will lift your spirits :)

Hi Eric and Gami and everyone!

I've been a very busy bee so I haven't stopped in here for quite a while.

I finally have some pictures, although not such great ones, to share with you on Sierra. I just need to go over there and upload them, so keep your eyes peeled!

I have everything in my veggie garden and in spite of the three frosty nights recently, things look pretty good. A couple of my basils, planted next to the tomatoes, developed black leaves, and the peppers flopped over on their sides. With the return of warm (hot!!!) weather and lots of watering, most of these are getting very full and happy! :)

So, Eric, what's that slime business on the brocolli all about? I hope to plants some this fall, so I am very curious!

Gami, I hope by now you are feeling better! :)

Take care!

Hey cowgirl!
Where, ah say, where you been hidin?? More than likely, the basil and peppers suffered from the cold; my cukes did, but as you can tell from the pictures, they are back in business :) Don't know what the deal with the broccoli was. My problem solver book seems to suggest that it was rhizoctonia, but that usually only rots the bottom of the plant  Unfortunately, its not controllable, so I guess I dont plant any cole crops there next year. It's all a learning process :) I'll be waiting for your pictures :)

Hi Liz and Eric,

Thanks for the well wishes. I'm getting there. :)

Your pics look great. I remember way back when...don't even want to mention how many years ago... that I planted my first garden. I strolled down it every day looking for any new growth. It's just as exciting today as it was back then.

It's really neat to see pics of everybody's gardens, even though mine is still young.

Well gang, there is even more good news :) I filled out an application to URI yesterday. Im going back for my masters in gardening :) Well, its a 16 week course, but it's the equivalent of getting your masters :) I see the tech support door slowly closing, and the gardening career door slowly opening :)

Hi Eric,

Go for it. Anything your little heart desires, now is the time to take the plunge. I take it you'll be working during the day and school at night.

You'll be great and happy in this field. What more could you ask for? :)
