I've already tiled my floors and I wish to use the same tiles as a baseboard. Can I use the same thinset as the floor or do I have to use a wall thinset?
Also, what do I put between the transition between the floor and the bottom of the tiled baseboard (Grout or Caulk) as well on the top of the tiled baseboarded? Hope that makes sense...
Thanx!

you should have the top of the wall tile bullnosed to give it a finished look against the wall at the top, you can use the same thinset, I would grout the area at the floor when they come together, many will say caulk, I just don't like the look, you may get cracks with grout but I still think it looks better

I always use grout between the baseboard and floor tile. I too think it looks better and after 17 years of tiling I've never had a call back for the grout cracking in this area.
Bullnose tile is getting harder to find these days so I either put a metal or plastic trim on like Schluter makes but my personal preference is to grout the top of the the base board off at a 45 % angle. I think the Schluter trim makes it look a little to hospitaly, but that's just me.

Thanks guys...I think I will be going to use the grout instead of the caulk for the transition between the two

Hi
Well we agree to disagree;) I always caulk the joint between the floor and wall..because it always cracks. Grout it, and then put clear on top..the clear latex works good...goes on white and dries clear....also I don;t like the grout on the top of the base..but I guess it's up to the individual.
