hi, everyonei,m still kind of new to this so, please be patient with me.i purchased a red dawn clematis this year . it has put out leaves looks real good. but my question is are these fast growers or what . i have it planted by a beautiful arched trellis. roots are protected for sun. i,m just in a hurry to see it.anyone know anything about them. oh, one more question, how do you keep birds for trying to pull up my plants. any help will be welcomed. thanks again.

I have searched and searched and cannot find any info on a red dawn clematis. Hopefully your label tells you what pruning group it is in. It might also tell you who the grower is and you might be able to contact them to get more info.

Here are some sites that will give you some info on clematis. Do keep in mind that clematis often don't do much of anything the first year or two that they are planted while they establish a healthy root system to support the blooms. I know it's hard to be patient, but clematis often require just that.
