You guys have a great forum here!! ~smile~
Now to my problem:
1-system info-> split system-> Janitrol -(air handler) model A36-10 - ser.# 860300732. Note: a/h is installed in garage. unit is aprox. 14 yrs old.
2-I have done a little repair to the condenser outside --> replaced the fan motor and capacitor (near compressor) last year.
3-System has been cooling fine, until yesterday-> I adjusted the t-stat down to kick system on and a couple minutes later noticed that the blower motor had not turned on. Quickly checked outside to see if condenser was operating and yes it was. Put hand on refrigerant line (3/4" copper line) at the air handler and it was very cold. Waited another minute or two to give the delays time but blower never started. Then shut the system off
The system was not running anytime earlier that day
4- Now what really interests/worries me is that I went to try and troubleshoot problem this morning and the whole system turned on properly and is cooling fine. Waazzuup with that? Is this an early sign of what's to come? Is there some preventive maint. or switches or delay or capacitors that can be replaced ? Thanks in advance for any input. db

spin blower in a/h by hand.It should spin freely.Next turn power on,leave a/c off---set the tstat switch to fan on.Try this on/off test 5 or 10 times.Make sure fan completely stops each time.If it does not cycle on,lets say the seven time, check in the a/h control box for a humming sound.Tap the fan relay with an insulated screwdriver. If fan cycles on the relay is worn and needs replacing.PDF
