I am going to loose lay olefin carpet in a patio room. No pad , no tack strips. What is the best way to cut along walls to get a close cut? I know it has to be cut on back of carpet. Do I use a straight edge when cutting it?

Olefin usually means loop pile. To cut a loop pile and make it look crisp, always cut it from the top, with a sharp blade. Changing blades often. Have a pair of scissors handy to clip the yarns, that may be stubborn.
Then latex all the edges. So it won't unravel later.
