I am doing some painting, and want to remove some of the old-fashioned radiators in our house. The problem is, the radiators have a coupling on one of the pipes hooking them up, but the other one doesn't, it's just copper pipe solderd together. Do I cut it and replace it or add a coupling in?
Also, any thing I should be aware of when draining and filling the system?
Thanks!

Hello Dyi-junkie,
Add a coupling would not be a bad idea to make servicing or removing the radiator for painting easier.
1) Draining your system is easy to do.
- Close the feed valve attached to the cold water supply.
- Open the drain valve on your furnace
- Open the bleeder valve on the radiator(s) you are removing.
2) Filling the system is easy as well.
- Close the drain valve on your furnace
- Close the bleeder valve on the radiator(s) you reinstalled.
- Open the feed valve attached to your cold water supply.
- Bleed your radiators.
