we installed a floating floor in a hundred year old house, now we want to put up the trim boards and , there is as much as an six inch drop from one end of the room to the other. How do we fix this. thank you big red cat

By trim boards, do you mean the baseboards and/or shoe molding? I can't quite visualize your problem, but aren't you just going to follow the floor with your trim, even if one side is lower than the other. Of course, attach the trim only to the walls, not to the floor.

Obviously, I'm missing something.

it sounds like you've got, basically, a 6" gap between the bottom of the drywall and the top of the flooring?? if so, it seems to me like you MAY have to do some drywall patching here.

please correct me if i'm wrong, but i THINK i understand what's going on here.

oh, is the floor itself level, or is there a difference in where the drywall stops??

If you are trying to explain that the floor is out of level 6" from one end of the room to the other, then there should have been an inspection beneath the floor to determine why and the situation corrected prior to floor covering installation.
