I am hanging the 1/2" CBU in my shower and I cut the hole around the faucet control a little large and a little to the left. Can I use part of the cutout and tape/thinset this hole so that it is a more appropriate size. What is the best way to deal with this hole?

Thanks

if it is not to big it should work, may be better to use and new sheet and use the sheet with the hole for smaller places - that way you can cut before and after hole -

Hi
If you can get mesh tape on both sides, that would help...knowing what size tile is going in this area would help too...if it's large and will span the joint in the cbu, then it will be fine..if it's small, it may not support the piece.

I am not sure that I could get tape on both sides. The tiles I am using are 6 x 8 inch tiles so they could span the gap depending where the grout lines fall. I am thinking more about just redoing the CBU and using the screwed up one as a learning experience and a guide for a new one.

I think your last reply is the best idea. When I mess something up (not an uncommon occurrence!), I just re-do it and say "OK, instead of saving $1000, I have now saved $992; still not too bad!
