I want to redo my front porch (currently concrete)with brick pavers and new (vinyl or aluminum) porch posts. I was thinking I should install the posts on the concrete surface and then place the pavers around them. I have been told not to do this by someone who said to install the posts ontop of the pavers. His reasoning was due to water infilltration around the posts. However, I would think that for whatever reason if the pavers had to be removed, it would be a real headache with the posts on the pavers. Any comments!

I honestly believe that you'd probably have to replace the posts (because of bumping, denting or splitting) before you'd have to replace the pavers under.
Just plan ahead of time... knowing the thickness of your pavers either 1/2", 1", 1-1/8", 1-1/4", 1-1/2", 2-1/4" or 2-3/8" plus the mortar bed, which will determine the height of your post (with the post base).
Good luck with your project.
