The background: I have tiles installed on a slab floor which has cracked causing the tiles to also crack. I need to replace the cracked tiles (some saltillo and some ceramic).

The question: Is there something I can add to the thinset, or perhaps even some other mastic product I can use, that will allow the bond 'give' a little and prevent stress cracks in the future?

Thanks for you help.

While additives like latex and silicone to thinset allow for some flexibility, the integrity of your tile is only as good as that of the substrate material. Any movement or settling beneath the tile will tend to result in cracked tiles and grout failure.
