I have french doors leading to my back yard, and I wish to hang sheer door panels on them to cover the glass area. I've bought 4 sash rods, but I'm not sure how to go about hanging them on the doors. The curtain brackets came with sheet metal type screws, and the doors themselves have a metal exterior with narrow molding around the glass. Can I drill into this, and if so what kind of bit should I use?
Thanks.
Thanks.

You can use a small regular drill bit in a variable-speed drill to drill a hole just large enough to start the self-tapping metal screws, or you might just try an awl to punch a hole with if the door metal is thin enough.
A start mark with an awl will help keep the drill bit from skittering anyway.
Good luck!
Mike

I recently went shopping for all different types of curtain rods and came across magnetic sheer rods that I thought was a great idea. Maybe this may help you from drilling into your doors incase you may change your mind in the future. :)
