Can anyone out ther give me an eductated/experienced opinion as to whether a vinyl clad face on a wood door jamb is acceptable on which to mount a storm door? We have a "Mastercraft" 6-panel prefinished white door which comes with a vinyl front on the jamb. Someone told us that it is not acceptable for mounting the storm door, but I don't understand why. Can't you just drill holes through the vinyl since the jamb itself is wood? While I'm asking, has anyone out there purchased this door from Menard's? I don't have the booklet on it, (it's stamped #1450 if that means anything). but Menards attests to it being a good quality door and that the viny front is satisfactory for mounting however, they did say it would be easier to deal with a regular wood jamb.
We did not realize that since we purchased a prefinished door that the jamb would be vinyl faced. Help!!!!
 Lou
