I have a round, pine table top for my OUTDOOR palapa. I bought it unfinished. I wonder what the best finish would be, but MOST important is there is a slight defect in the top itself. There is a slight split about 3 inches long and less tan 1/32 wide at its widest point.....what do I fill that with before I finish the table??
thanks in advance.

Hi,
If you are going to paint this, you could patch the crack with some exterior glue (tite-bond etc.) let it cure for a day and then prep sand and tack cloth it clean, primer and paint.
If you are going to stain it, give it a prep sanding, and save your dust. Clean out the defect, with a vac or air. Take some exterior glue and mix in your dust to make a putty and use it to fill in the defect. Let it cure and sand smooth, tack off, stain and follow with and exterior clear coat finish.
For exterior use don't forget to finish off the underside as well to help keep moisture out.
Go to a paint store for some help about what finish would be best, (one that contractor painters use)
hope this gives you some help,
Trent
