Bricks, Masonry, Asphalt and Concrete - Riprap cap

I posted back in April about a riprap wall. The suggestion to use a SRW such as Allan Block etc. didn't work out. I couldn't find anyone interested enough to come out and give me an estimate. However, I did find someone to put up the riprap wall now I want to know...
Can this wall be capped off to level out the top and give it a cleaner look?

Caps added to a stone wall often fail unless it's the same stone incorporated into the wall itself.I've many times seen a stone wall with a poured concrete cap added to it,or a bluestone cap for a more uniform look pop off in no time.Some types of stone walls are supposed to float naturally with mother nature so if you add something square and uniform on top and it "pops" in a year it looks like hell.Making a cap with rip-rap would be a real task.Go to your local mason yard and see if they could show you some natural stone that matches the color of the riprap-this way if the wall heaves a bit and pops a cap stone it will still look somewhat natural.Just one opinion here.Good luck

Thanks for the input. I was afraid that would be the answer and I'm glad you replied to confirm it.

I was also thinking of using some old square stepping stones instead of doing the poured cap; figured it would be no great loss if they didn't work out.

You can basically use anything you want providing it's pleasing to your own eye and you dont mind the shortened longevity of it.Rip rap walls are small stones not tied into one another and too small to be overlapped for strength.If you cemented anything to the top of this you'd most likely be doing maitanance soon,however this is just one opinion.I hope everything works out for you.

Maybe I'll just wait and see what it looks like after the biodegradable wrapper does its thing. There's a guy across the lake who put a wall up awhile back and it looks about the same size as the one I have. I heard he was going to put some kind of cap on his so I guess I can learn from his experience before I waste any time or money.
