We are in the middle of remodeling two upstairs bathrooms. Can anyone offer some assistance in methods to soundproof these bathrooms and the whirlpool tub? We have heard of insulating boards and metal channels yet the home building supply stores are unaware of any such items. Please help...thanks asap

The metal Channels are available, but you will have to get them through a Sheetrock supply house. Your average lumber store or Hardware store will not stock them. Look in the yellow pages under sheetrock Hangers/Finishers and see if you have a supply house nearby.

You may also want to consider sound batts for the walls. It looks like insulation but is made for sound. I put them in all of my walls, they really help ! They too will be found at a drywall supply store. The resiliant sound channel is used for ceilings.
