I have painted a shelf with high-quality glossy latex paint. It seems to be pretty durable, except that heavy things with rubber feet tend to stick to it and pull the paint away. Should I have used an oil based paint instead?
If so, can I paint an oil-based paint over the top of the latex? Is there anything else I could put on top of the latex paint that would make it less "sticky" to rubber feet?

It may not be the paint surface if the paint is lifting from another surface. What does it peel down to exactly? The original surface? Bare wood? Old paint? Primer? If the topcaot didn't cure long enough before the heavy item was placed on it, that would be a problem. Perhaps felt caps for the feet instead of rubber? I'd need to know more. But if it peels to the substrate, my first thought is that no primer, or an incorrect primer was used, coupled with the object being set on the paint before it cured 'hard-dry'.
