I just received a bid on Proview Ellison model 3250 replacement vinyl windows.

What is your opinion on this brand/model window?

The bid is for 10 double hung plus 1 picture window (approx. 48x48)

Total bid price $3775.00

Not familiar with that brand, but since there isn't a great deal of difference in any vinyl replacement window, I'll venture you would be paying about $75 a window too much. I could tell you closer if I knew the size of your double hungs and if you're getting any options like LowE glass or colonial grid.

I just quoted a guy with 10 double, regular glass, no grid, average window size 36x38 ( 74 UI ) $2250. I'd have throw in the picture for another $275.

Proview windows are built by Norandex. www.norandex.com

The replacement windows are standard no grids - low e glass.

Ok....went to the Norandex site and looked at them...that should be the least priced window there. Mechanical frame, doesn't say on the sash, and the old spiral balancer spring mechanisn.

If you bought just the windows, the 10 should run around $140-$150 apiece and the picture about $180. ..plus whatever sales tax you have. I install for $50/window if the customer buys the windows and that includes the trim coil for the outside, caulk and any insulation needed.

So -->HERE<--, you'd average a little better than $200/window installed......I think you have some room for negotiation.

By the way, the Simonton Prizm they also carry is a little better window....if nothing else, the constant force balencer is a MUCH better spring method.
