I am wondering what kind of paint is best for an often damp bathroom?

Unless you have a mildew problem, oils will resist moisture better than latex. Easier to scrub over the years. The higher the sheen (gloss), the better it will scrub. If mildew, a specialized latex bathroom paint such as Permawhite by Zinsser or 322-00 by Benjamin Moore.
