I have rotten wood at the bottom of my front door jamb. I have tried drilling holes and injecting "Git Rot" into the affected area, but this did not work so well. Can I just cut out the affected area, and replace it, or do I have to replace the entire door unit?

You should be able to cut out the piece that is rotted and replace it. Use pressure-treated wood, if you can.
Good luck!
