I would like to know how to replace the washers in my shower/ bath faucet. I need to know how to disassemble, what washers to buy, and how to reassemble. Thank you.

Assuming that you have tub/shower dual-handle compression faucets, you can replace the washers like this:
A. Turn OFF the water.
B. Open the faucets to relieve pressure. Remove the Phillips-head screws that hold the handles on. If it is a plastic handle, you can pop off the little center cap with a knife point to get to the screws.
C. Use a socket or adjustable wrench to unscrew the retaining nuts counter-clockwise. The stems (or spindles) should come right out
D. Take the stems with you to the store and get two washers (and o-rings if necessary) that match. You may have to buy a little box of assorted washers.
E. Re-assemble in reverse order. Easy.
Here is an illustration of a compression faucet (this one happens to be a sink faucet, but the internal parts work the same.)

Good luck!
