Does anyone know how to dye a 7x9' dining room carpet? It's off-white wool, and I'd like to dye it deep orange. Please inform me as to the materials, process and any tips you've found. Is it a project I can do myself, or should we farm it out to the professionals? Thanks.

For best results carpet dying is best left to a professional. Carpet dying kits for the DIYer are however available. Not all carpets can be dyed.

If it is indeed a wool product it can be dyed. Be careful of wool blends.

It is true, that professionals have the right tools and equipment to make it look right.

I have heard of people renting cleaners from the grocery store and mixing up a dye potion, and having good results. Just remember to clean that machine out very good afterwards or you may face a lawsuit from the next user that has orange streaks on there carpets, which will cost you more then if you had just replaced your carpet with brand new orange carpet.
