I have a combination bathtub/shower with sliding doors that run the length of the tub. I am not sure whether it is plastic or fiberglass. Is there any way to tell? Is it possible to apply a new surface? Is it possible to replace the sliding door assembly? If so what are the pitfalls?

Tub doors are a snap to install. The only "hard" part is to accurately measure the top rail and to make a clean, straight cut with out scaring the rail. I use a sawzall on a very slow speed to cut this as the rail is clamped in a workmate.
