The easiest way to find out if a rectangle is square is to measure the diagonals. If the object is square, they will be equal.

I understand about the measuring and using a square, but it seems I can get 2 or 3 of the corners square but not the forth......any hints?

wheats49,
In order to have two or even three corners near to square and not the fourth indicates that the lengths may be slightly different.
The diagonal measurements, as mentioned, will be identical if the case is square. This can even be done without a T-square.
