OK I am a novice when it comes to making things and my tools are limited to a drill-circular saw-hammer-rotozip.
I am looking to make my son a "locker" type thing to keep his sports equipment in and a bench to sit on to put his skates and stuff on. I have a space of 4 ft wide-3 ft deep. Am looking for some plans but have not seen any in the books at the library or Lowes. Want to have shelves in it to store things and a place to hang stuff (gloves, hats, helmets(hockey and baseball), pads and such) and would like the bench to lift up so he can keep his skates in the bottom.
Anybody that is good at drawing plans or know where I can find something like this please let me know!

Hi,
This will cost around or under $75.00.
2 1/2 sheets - 3/4" x 4' x 8' plywood
1 sheet -1/4" x 4' x 8' lauan plywood
6- 2 x 4 x 8'
1- 2 x 6
Lay out the plywood bad side up and cut one side off to give you a 8' x 1' strip from each sheet. This equals the back of the seat, 2 shelves, and a top, when cut to finished size.
Mark the other factory edges with a line that gives you another 1' x 8' strip, but do not cut. Determine what seat height you want and measure and mark this across the bottom oth each sheet, resulting in a left and right side "L". Next cut out the 2' x whatever you have left on the inside of the "L", this gives you your 2 "L" pieces, a seat and a bottom when cut to size. Determine the height of the unit and cut off the long leg of the "L" plus the thickness of your top.
Take a 2 X 4 and cut it to a size that will give you 2 pieces that will lay across the bottom and top of the bottom part of the "L"
for both sides.Cut another 2 x 4 to fill in the space between these
Same for the other "L". Screw the 2 x4 members to the sides keeping the bottom one 3/4" up to allow for the bottom. Cut the 1/4" ply to size for the back. Brad nail this 1/4 ply to the back side finish cut you piece for the fron and nail it in place. Cut to finish size the bottom and screw in place. next cut one of the 1" x 8' pieces to be the top and the back of the seat. Cut a 2 x4 to fit between the sides at the backtop and the front top and nail these in. Nail on the top. Cut some more 2 x 4 to go between the sides and the front top and bottom of the seat and the same for the back, and nail these in place. Take the 2 x 6 and cut it to fit between the sides at the point where the leg has a corner, this gives a place for a hinge and stiffens the seat piece. Add in the shelves at your option. Where I have said nail in most cases I would use screws, and maybe a few beads ( not heavy ) of construction adhesive. I would primer with something like Kilz, and give a first coat of paint before assembling.
hope this helps,as it is off the top of my head, post backany question.
good luck,
Trent
