We are replacing a plaster ceiling on a screened porch of a 52 year old house. Is there such a thing as outdoor drywall? Or would regular drywall work as long as the roof is in good shape?

I would try using Green Board. Its water resistant. Also make sure to use a good primer and finish with exterior gloss paint

Staple up a vapor barrier to minimize water damage if the roof ever goes into disrepair.

Normal 5/8" sheetrock will do the trick.

Texturize to get that plaster look back.

I perfer a nice t&g pine on porch ceilings, but the budget must be able to handle the extra expense.
