It is recommended that one should always seek the advice of a professional when buying and installing a woodburning stove. Sizing, selection, installation, operation, and maintenance are important considerations. Improper installation could result in a housefire and air pollution. Read and follow manufacturer's instructions. It is also important to check with local authorities regarding building codes and permits. Improperly installed stoves can affect the draft of the stove. Proper draft is important for reducing pollution and to assure your stove works at optimum efficiency.

Yes Rohondo, this is a DIY site, however, this particular forum deals with FIREplaces-the members here try to help as best we can with diy projects but stove installations require the utmost thought and safety considerations before installing.Fireplaces and stoves can be dangerous to you and your family when not installed correctly. We can give advice on many subjects here - repairs, cleaning, refacing, etc, however installations are best left to a proffessional. You must also pass clearance codes with your local building inspector. If you do decide to do it yourself without having it inspected,be forewarned that insurance companies will not cover smoke/fire damages caused by faulty stove installations without being passed by town inspectors.

Thank you for reinforcing the issue of professional inspection and installation. Living in Appalachia, we get many reports every year regarding house fires and wood burning stoves.
