Please re-direct me if this is the wrong forum for this question.
I am trying to remove an old kitchen cabinet. Right now it appears to be held in place with 2 almost 4" long nails going through horizontal lengths of wood at the top and bottom of the cabinet. I removed bottom piece of wood with a crowbar. The top one is harder to get leverage on and I am afraid of damaging the wall. I cannot get at the nail itself because its sunk into the wood. Any thoughts on the best way to approach this?

Thank you,
sami

Depending on whether or not you are trying to save the cabinet or not, you could use a hole saw (the kind that goes in a drill) and cut a circle around the nails. Then after cabinet comes off you can work on the little round piece with the nail through it. Just split the wood on either side of the nail with a chisel along the grain and knock the pieces loose, then pry out nail. You would need to run the hole saw slightly off center so that the pilot bit misses the nail.

Thank you! That's what I was imagining, but did not know there was actually a drill bit like that available! Is it officially called a "hole saw"? I have a Black & Decker drill. I'm off to look for a hole saw at Home Depot......

Thanks again,

:)

If you say "hole saw" in the tool section at HD, they'll know what you want.

The hole saw worked like a charm.

Thank you much!
