I have a 10x12 foot room that I'm hanging a 12 inch border in. In what lengths do you recommend I hang it in? Can I do one wall with one whole strip, or will that be too heavy? You can tell I don't want to cut and match the border! The less cutting the better for me!

Sadly, you will have to cut, but not as much as you would think. Your first step is to engineer the room. By that, imagine taking the border and applying it to the inside of a box. Eventually, the end will occur, and where the start of the border is and the end meet, there will be a pattern miss-match. So, you will have to figure out where this should occur and will be least noticed. I would recommend a corner as your start/stop point.

You can and should hang the full border with no cuts, butting one piece to the next. You might have to trim the end of them a bit to match them up. Check this before hanging.

The last cuts you should make are in the corners. Wrap the border into the corner, and ensure it goes all the way into it. Then make a vertical cut through the border from the top to bottom. This allows the border to expand/contract and will prevent any "bowing" of the border in the corner. You won't be able to notice this cut when finished.

Use a quality snap off knife during the whole process, like Olfa. The 99 cent ones will snag and tear your border. Snap off a new blade for every cut.

Using the technique I described, your border should turn out well. If you need more advice, write back and best of luck. :D
