There is a lot of sloppy caulk in the joints of my baseboards and window and door casings.
How do I remove this?
How do I finish my bead of caulking smoothly?

I will usually use a putty knife. Sometimes if you can use a hook tool to get an old bead started you can pull it out in long pieces. I know a guy that swears by a little plastic tool to smooth caulk. I use my moistend finger( with rags handy for cleanup)

There are some tools sold by www.improvementscatalog.com that seem to help some... http://www.improvementscatalog.com/parent.asp?pf%5Fid=172225x&dept%5Fid=130&strFindSpec=&Solutions=&code=
