I have decided that I want my medicine cabinet recessed into the wall, so where do I start? I figure I need to measure the opening, use a saws all to cut it. What do I do with any studs I run into?? How do I brace the cabinet in there?? The light fixutre is not a problem, I've got that figured out. Hey, thanks for all your help!

hotpotatosoul,
Is the medicine cabinet you plan to install designed to fit and be secured between two 16" spaced studs? If so, you should try to place it in between two of the studs without having to cut a stud. Locate the studs using an electronic stud finder (there are other ways to find studs, but using one of these is the easiest). Otherwise you will have to determine whether or not the wall you are going to place this on is a "load-bearing" wall. You want to avoid cutting a stud on such a wall. If it is not a load bearing wall then you can cut a section out of the stud and "frame" an opening for your medicine cabinet.
Also, once you have chosen a location for your cabinet, I would advise finding out if there is an electrical wire running through that area. If there is, you will need to find another location. There are devices available that can "find" wiring in a wall. Or you can cut a small opening that would allow you to see in the wall and inspect for any electrical wiring. If wiring is present, simply patch the small hole.
Also, be sure to measure and mark just the area for the back of the cabinet to fit into. Another words - do not cut too big of an opening! Cut carefully!!!
Good Luck!!!
