I've just rebuilt my toilet, installing brand new "innards" with a Fluidmaster kit. I put in a new fill valve, flush valve, handle, etc.
After carefully following the directions, I now have to hold the handle up a few extra seconds when flushing so that there's enough umph to flush without having to flush twice.
What kind of adjustment should I make to get back that power I had before I tuned up my toilet?
I suspect that Fluidmaster adheres to some national plumbing code section that is aimed at saving water. But if I have to flush twice, I'm certainly not saving any water. In fact, I'm using even more.

Hello, Check the directions again. Fluidmaster sells some kits with an adjustable flapper that could cause your problem. It happened to me and I've changed a lot of flappers in my time.

See if you can take a little slack out of the chain that connects your flush handle to your flapper. It's possible that your flapper isn't lifting quite as high as it should.

The chain is taut. I wonder what else I should consider?

Is the water level at the right height? There is a mark on the inside of the tank.

Mondavi,
Did you twist the fluid master to raise the hieght of it?? This will bring up the water level...
