Hi all,

I have a large amount of molding and other wood to stain and polyurethane. Is it possible to use a compressor and a paint sprayer to apply the polyurethane. I figured it would be faster and look better doing it that way. Anyone have any experience doing this?

thanks
Ron

Yes, I do it all the time. It helps to have a moisture trap in the air line.

Thanks for the rpley. Do I need to thin the polyurethane.? Is there a certain polyurethane I should use for this? Any tricks I should know about.

Thanks

I would guess that thinning poly for spraying would be the best way to go. I nearly always thin polyurethane, up to 50/50 even for brushing/wiping. Here's a thought - If your set on spraying, and can handle the fumes, why not try lacquer. Almost all new furniture is lacquer sprayed - it gets the finished product into the truck almost the same day.
